I must finish up our summertime recap!
Now that it is already FALL :)
No discussion of our summer 2014 would be complete without
sharing the story of our best duck...
yes, duck.
We spent so much time in the bog.
one day this beautiful hen followed the boys right out!
over time she was not only eating out of their hand
she was following them everywhere.
Always near.
She would play in the sand box with them
and sleep on the patio
pose for pictures with us
and even try (often)to come in the house!
Matthew even had to take his breakfast with him
outside to be with her continually or she would
really start quaking. It was so much fun.
the kids truly adored their wild pet.
then, we went on a little vacation to a friends cabin
and she was gone...
I'm not really sure what happened
She did however like to frequent our local pub
across the street.
So, who knows :)
Another, addition to our summer recap
has to be our annual trip with my mother.
this year we tried something new
We went to Ashland and Bayfield, WI.
We had a great time hiking state parks
sitting by lake superior and taking the ferry
to Madeline Island.

My favorite place was Tom's Burnt Down on Madeline Island!
Once again we had a great time with grandma spike.
I would love to return to the area with Tom
it is really beautiful!
