Wrapping it up

Since my last post we have had a lot of
updates and I will try to remember them
now.

We spent one more week on trickster tales.
This time I told African Anansi folktales
and we read the Magic Gourd
Matthew painting from the Magic Gourd

Then we turned our attention to gardening!
As the tulips were blooming we started planting.
This year we doubled the gardens size, and
we are all looking forward to its bounty!!

We are always inspired by art.
I love to take the kids to our local galleries.
Our favorite is Art reach.
It is small, low key, and very child friendly.
After one particular visit we simply had to
come home and sculpt and paint.

I took a mushrooming course at our local co-op.
Then, I came home and relayed all the information
to the family .
Now it turns out they have very good eyes
for morels and found plenty right in our own yard!
Mushrooming has quickly become our favorite family activity.

One of the beauties we discovered

When we are not gardening or mushrooming
I have been working with Matthew steadily on
memorizing his times tables.  We are doing flash
cards, signing songs, and writing it out.
Over and over!
He really grasps the concept very well.
He simply needs to memorize.
We are still working.

We have enjoyed all the life spring has brought forth.
We try to take the same walk everyday to notice the changes.
The birds have been the most obvious.
We have been privileged with multiple nests around us.
Woodpecker, red winged black bird, wood duck, mallard,
and this lovely robin all nesting near our home.

The boys have both started their baseball season.
Wesley really has enjoyed it.  They both love the change.
In addition to baseball the boys are in swimming lessons
and Matthew is starting golf lessons.
Of course we still have some summer hockey going.
Matthew starts Diane Ness skating lessons soon.

They really love the sports although,
they have the most fun climbing trees and
 catching snakes

Tillie had her FOURTH birthday!

I can hardly believe it.  She is getting to be such a big girl.

Of course Mr. Man is getting bigger too.
He is almost walking.
It won't be long and he will be running away!

I asked the boys what they thought of the summer
maybe taking a break from school.  They told me that they
really wanted to keep it going.  So, maybe I will add a couple of
lessons.  We really enjoy learning.  I see no need to stop.
Maybe that is the point.

Life is learning

until next time
